YOU KNOW WE'RE IN TROUBLE WHEN...

...businesses can't get the "business" thing.
Canadian Federation of Independent Business reports that businesses are giving thumbs down to Ont. Liberals' pension plan because it would take otherwise disposable income out of  employers' and employees' pockets.  But, a few short years ago the CFIB reported that a majority of small and independant businesses supported the HST - which was okay because, it only took disposable income out of consumers' pockets.

GUN CONTROL IN THE THIRD REICH

Halbrook concludes by noting that less government regulation and a tradition of rejecting tyranny could have led to a different outcome in Germany. Instead, systematic creation and manipulation of firearms registration and regulations, coupled with the decimation of individual citizen’s rights, enabled Hitler’s dictatorship and the slaughter of millions of innocent Jews and citizens of Nazi-occupied countries, as well as tens of thousands of Germans. It remains for all of us to wonder what might have been had people refused to register their firearms. Indeed, we should all take note and never forget.

THE $288 BILLION DOLLAR QUESTION FOR ONTARIANS

 From Dean Del Mastro, MP:
Where is the outrage? Where is it? Every day I speak to someone that tells me that their hydro bill is killing them or that the fees for everything from driving to just keeping your trade licenses are climbing so fast that it's causing real hardship.

HEY DALTON! AND YOU TOO, KATHLEEN!

Let's play Louis and Marie-Antoinette!

From the Ontario Business Network newsletter:
"In the 2012 Ontario Budget, it was revealed that, up to March 31, 2012, the Ontario government (through the Ontario Electricity Financial Corporation) had collected $12.8 billion dollars as a result of the debt retirement charge. In the fall 2013 Update, the Finance Minister reported that, although about $1.5 billion more had been collected to that point in time, the remaining residual stranded debt was $11.3 billion. So, after paying about $14.3 billion to retire a $7.8 billion debt, Ontario ratepayers still owed $11.3 billion. This amazing arithmetic is due to the Ontario government's addition of interest to the original amount owing ..."

QUEEN OF THE HAVE-NOT HIVE CONFERS CASH!

Ontario preparing bee loss compensation
If you're big enough and registered enough, you're given a competitive advantage.
Hmmm. I wonder about the bureaucratic/regulatory cost of...
Eligible beekeepers must report over a 40 per cent loss of bee hive inventory as set out in the 2014 certificate of registration issued by the provincial apiarist.
Applicants must sign an “attestation” that they’ve followed proper beekeeping practices and that the bee deaths in question “were not caused by wildlife damage, vandalism, intentional death or negligence.”
Applicant beekeepers must also have an Agricorp identification number and Premises Identification Number.
Good luck with big government lads. Before long, you'll pine for the good ol'days where it was just you and the flowers and the bees.

IN A MAD WORLD...

...ONLY THE MAD ARE SANE
The world’s economic/financial system is going to reset, and you don’t want to have significant assets in a form that they can easily confiscate. So I think owning real estate in the right places in the world is important, as is having gold and silver abroad. You’ve got to be diversified politically and internationally. That’s absolutely critical because if you aren’t, you can’t escape from your masters’ tax farm.

SAY IT AIN'T SO JOE!

China's farmers feel deflationary chill

Bommensath got 8.65 million pounds and King was paid 3.81 million pounds.
Hmmm. I was wondering where all that stimulus/bailout money was ending up! Fair compensation for a job well done, no doubt, eh? What? Pip Pip old boy!
