FARM GROUPS SEEK FREEBIES, NOT FREEDOM

Ridiculous Environmental regulations add costs and strangle your productivity; animal welfare fools tell you how to raise livestock;  land prices and quota costs drive away your young folks...and this is the best your representatives can come up with?

  1. This is beyond embarassing. Farmers and ranchers used to be some of the most rugged and independant individuals you could find. Now their official organizations make them sound like whining babies. I have the same message for your farmers that I have for your Ontario Police and their "woe is us" blubbering. If it's really that difficult and unfair, go do something else. Grow some balls, build some spine, see if you can find some pride.

  2. Listen to that whining prick going on about farm property taxes. Paying taxes on 25% of the value isn't fair. This same organization supports any policy that increases farmland values like ethanol, and biofuels and supply management but balks when that increase(surprise, surprise) results in higher property taxes. They are as greedy, selfish and disgusting as the public sector unions. Unfortunately they represent the views of most of the farmers in this province.

  3. I just vomited in my mouth after watching those crap videos.
"The Local Food Act" is nothing but pandering to the f%&*ing hippies and their love in with buying produce at a Farmers Market.
As a farmer you may be able to sell at a Farmers Market for a profit but most Farmers Markets are such dinky affairs you would never generate enough income to survive.
All the food literacy program in schools is the government telling you how to pack your school lunch....now sit up straight and eat your vegetables!

  4. I just came in from the shop and opened a home-brewed quart, and Mr. Macrae spoils my weekend by posting this! Damn you!

I am so unbelievably sick and f*****g tired of all this "we are so special, we are so essential, you would die without us, so you have to pay us more" bullshit. I came into the house at noon and the radio news was on and here was this veterans wife spouting of the bullshit that her husband "had our back" and therefore we owed him. I know damned well that she was talking about gratuity and $$$ far above and beyond what he signed up for. I am so glad I'm not a farmer or a cop or a veteran because I would hang my head in shame.

  5. Now you got me going. My family business was forced out of production by a coalition of Liberals, big wineries/distilleries, and crown corporations (lcbo) and big unions. Not one of our gutless farm groups stepped up to the plate to help us out. The cowardly paid-off bastards deserted us.

My wife and I have a little business today propagating and selling durable vines as stock, but we do it as a straight-up commercial enterprise. We could never lower ourselves to buy an OFA membership to reduce property taxes on land that has already been devalued down to nothing thanks to OFA uselessness.
