The Canadian Landowner Alliance advocates for provincial legislation that recognizes property rights, and, that the Federal Government of Canada enshrines property rights in the Charter of Rights and freedoms.
As we approach the United Nations International Day of Forests on March 21, Canada can feel proud that its forest products industry has become a world leader in environmental credentials. I'll sleep easy now.
These reductions in emissions make perfect sense. Within the cost-effective trucking region around me, the 100+ year pulp and paper mill is gone, and four long-established sawmills have shut down as well. The only local wood market left is for residential home heating. Rural landowners have been clearing their bush, and might sort out some heavy hardwoods for stovewood, but young stuff, coniferous and lightweight deciduous trees all go into a brushpile to burn. Probably no geenhouse gases in that stuff though.
In honour of this UNIDF, I promise that the only thing you'll hear in our bush today is an echo...a model CS051 Echo, to be exact.
